| Education and Training | # Hold regular member luncheon meetings to discuss issues of common concern. Distinguished speakers, which in the past included Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury, SFC Chairman, HKMA Deputy Chief Executive, chief economists of international banks, senior executives of investment banks, senior partners of Big Four audit firms and city mayor from China, were invited to talk on topics relevant to the occasion.In supporting Hong Kong Government initiative to develop local bond market, Mr. Cheng Yan Chee - Deputy Secretary (Financial Services) of the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau - was invited in May 2009 to speak to HKACT members on the HK$100 billion new Government programme of bond. issuance. # Contributed articles to professional journals on the corporate treasurers' view of future development of the capital and financial markets. Member of Asia Editorial Panel of a major UK-based treasury journal # Established a treasury network in China (Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou) which consists of both MNC treasurers based in China and local Chinese nationals working for large corporations in China.In 2006 Convenor of HKACT, senior HKACT members, Chinese enterprises CFOs and treasurers of MNC in China founded and established the International Associations of CFOs and Corporate Treasurers (China) to promote the development of the treasury management profession in Mainland China. # Initiated a study group and mentor-mentee programme among students taking the ACT (UK) exam. Partnered with ACT (UK) in launching Certificate of International Cash Management (CertICM) in Hong Kong with enrolled/graduated students in excess of 300 todate. # Supported international treasury conference held in Hong Kong and China. # Promoted international co-operation by joining the International Group of Treasury Association (IGTA, web site: http://www.igta.org) and collaboration with other treasury associations which are also IGTA members. | |
| Other Activities | # Promoted the corporate bond market in Hong Kong through a) joint submission with HKCMA to the Government and b) share best practice with treasury bodies from other financial centres. # Consultative advice given to HKMA on treasury related topics including a) the pros and cons of setting up a local credit rating agency in Hong Kong, b) the different currency hedging practice of corporate treasurers, and c) the use of non-deliverable forwards in hedging Asian currencies.HKACT Convenor formally invited to join the Treasury Markets Forum in 2004-2005 and the renamed Treasury Markets Association since its formation in 2006 to provide input from corporate treasurers perspective. TMA is chaired by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority to promote the development of treasury markets (including cooperation with Mainland regulators) and Hong Kong as an international financial centre. | |
